[Log] Morgaine Kygaran

===============================================
Eavesdown Docks, Persephone
===============================================
Of course, Josephine does not refuse a hug from Sujiko. She even smiles a little as she gets wrapped up in his arms. "You never used to like hugs half so much," she muses, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. "And I'm core world educated, myself, you know. Not so impressive, considering I'm not a doctor, but I didn't realise it was anything to have a parade about. There's so much I never learned... You seem like you have quite a crew now, Suji. I'm proud of you, I am. You're doing really well for yourself. You're all still eating well, are you not?"

Cassie clears her throat, giving a little curtsy. "Cassie O'hare. And well, I /like/ to write.. dunno that I'd be called a professional or anything. Mostly I play the guitar, and violin, and I sing. Well dance too. But that's more a private thing." And after the last comment, she shoots him a cheeky smile, a little dimple showing in her left cheek as she does, before a new flush of color enters her cheeks, and she clears her throat lightly. "But, I just was about to land my very first payin gig, an I looked all over this dock and I ain't seein that ship anywheres. Would you perchance know a Mister Hase? He's the groom."

Morgaine was moving closer but as she sees the two hugging, she pauses and keeps her distance from what looks like an intimate moment. She looks up over the corvette admiring it in a way that it is somewhat obviously she is trying to avoid looking at the embracing couple.

"Tenson Barris," the young doctor replies, inclining his head towards Cassie. "A dancer. Interesting," Tenson replies, the soul of courtesy, even as his lips draw back in a slow, easy grin. "Well. I am afraid that I have not had the privilege of meeting a Mister Hase, but if I see him about, I'll certainly pass your name along to him, Miss O'hare. I wish I could be of more assistance, but I seem to be spending most of my time aboard the Theory of late, and precious little socializing." He wave his hand airily at the ship he's taking refuge under.

Savannha's head pokes around the corner of the cargo bay, nothing else, just her head. She blinks a moment before vanishing again and moving out into the sunlight entirely. Hands in her pockets she steps out onto the ramp to observe the goings-on of the Eavesdown docks. The first thing she sees is Sujiko and Josephine's embrace, and she smiles and waves at the two of them.

Cassie's eyes flicker towards the ship, and her head tilts. "What's this ships name then? I seen it before I think.. Isn't ther a Shep on board it? Oh what is his /name/! For a people person, I am really really bad with names. But, I never forget a face!"

"This is the Chaos Theory, an incongruity if I ever met one, given the relatively stable individuals I work with on her." He smiles at the ship, patting the side of the hull nearest his chair affectionately. "I have grown rather fond of her, though." He lifts his glasses away from his face to reveal striking light blue eyes, which crinkle up at Cassie. "So you don't forget my face," he says, before lowering the glasses again, though his grin remains.

Sujiko grins at Jo. "Well I din' never get t' miss you 'fore," he reasons. The accompanying grin might suggest he knows that's not the real reason, but that's the one he gives anyway. "An' I know ya' was," he says to her, referring to the coreworld education. "But you ain't on m' ship, so I can' rightly brag 'bout ya' can I?" he adds. "I almost got schooled on Londinium, ya' know," he continues. "Full scholarship an' everythin'. Londinium institute o' technology," he says proudly, standing up a little straighter, but pauses. "'cept I got mugged over there," he points to the space between two buildings, "An' din' have 'nuff money t' make it there. 's when I met Ara," he stops. Well that didn't really go in the direction he wanted it to.

Cassie's brows knit as he says the name and she sighs, shaking her head. "Nope.. that weren't the ship he is from. Inviti.. Inviti something." As he lowers his glasses, a thin brow quicks, rising a bit and she chuckles, leaning in. "Oh Inwon't forget Mister Barris." Giving him a light little wink, as her dimple grows right along with her smile.

Saienne strides down the out of the Grace's hold along with Tyr, a less than happy expression on her face. Although it is getting on for late in the evening, she has her broad-brimmed hat crammed onto her head. The shade falling across her eyes is dark, and she shakes her head occasionally, talking to the younger man in a low tone. The words are not audible, but her manner suggests that she is not in the most exuberant of moods. The pair of them reach the bottom of Grace's ramp and Saienne reaches up with one long-fingered hand to pat at the bulkhead. "Well," she says to Tyr, "Here we are again. Full circle." She then takes another couple of steps into the bustle of the dock, heading towards Josephine, Sujiko and the others.

Morgaine moves a little closer as a crowd starts to gather and she recognizes two of the people but in the evening light she choses not address the one in the embrace. She shifts her direction and approaches Tyr, "Good evening. Have you finally managed to settle in from the voyage and get the chores of landing all taken care of?" She asks with a smile.

"The Invictus?" Tenson hazards. "And please, it's Tenson. Just Tenson." He drains a drop of liquid from his cup, where the ice is pleasantly melting in the sunlight. "Mr. Barris is, unfortunately, my father." His grin matches Cassie's in size and readiness, even dimpling a bit himself, but his eyes are invisible behind the glassy reflection of the singer in his sunglasses.

Josephine's ghost of a smile fades immediately and the woman looks suddenly lost again. She blinks and frowns, turning away from Sujiko to look at the others who are coming toward them. She lifts a hand to wave to Saienne and Tyr, beckoning them to come closer. She even offers a kindly gaze to Morgaine, whom she does not know, but what's the harm of being kind. Her words are still addressed to Sujiko. "You could still go to the Institute, if you set your mind to it, you know. But..I think you're on a good path, as it is. You seem happy, Suji."

Cassie snaps. "Inviticus! Yup! That's the name.. See. Told you I was bad with names. Even ships aparently." She chuckles, and leans more on her right foot. "Well, ma allways raised me bein respectfull and all. An'not that I can say I mind it much really Just Tenson.." Her tone teasing as she copies him.. "But Just Tenson doesn't sound near as impressive as Mister Tenson does youknow."

Tyr makes his way over towards Jo, walking along Saienne. "Yeah. Full circle," he agrees with a little smile. "Back to Persephone, I guess." He turns his head when he sees someone approach. "Oh. Hey. Morgaine. Saienne, I should introduce you. Sai, this is Morgaine, she's in the market for some work. Morgaine, this is Saienne. She's our Sec -- First Mate, and she's running a lot of the day to day things these days."

"If I was going to impress, I'd introduce myself as Tenson Barris, M.D., D.V.P, and D.P," he says, grinning up at the girl. "And that doesn't include my graduate studies or education," he says. Anyone else would be bragging- Tenson seems just to be stating fact. "But titles are a mostly empty thing. Anyone can give them to themself, if they so wish. Character is much more difficult to build, and more valuable, in my opinion."

Saienne lifts the same hand she used to gently pat the Grace's shining hull to wave back to Josephine. It is a short little gesture, fingers curling around in a quick spiral, and she steps forward a little more quickly in response to the beckoning. As Morgaine addresses Tyr, however, she falls back again, half-turning to look at the pair of them. She regards Morgaine with dark eyes made darker by the shadow of her hat brim, and merely listens as Tyr answers the woman and makes the introductions. "Best not call me anythin' but Saienne," she says, smiling very faintly as she holds out her hand to be shaken. "I reckon so much is in flux at present that everythin' could change again in five minutes time. Best not bolt nothin' down." She pauses, and shrugs a fluid shrug. "But I'm real pleased to make your acquaintance, an' all." She is polite, but distracted, and looks once over her shoulder to Josephine and Sujiko as she finishes talking.

Cassie blinks and her brows lifts. "How'd you manage all that studyin? I'd go crazy. I would. I barely finished middle schoolin m'self. I mean, I'm not dumb or anythin.. just school is /boring/!" And she quickly raises a hand and chuckles. "No offence there to you doc.. er.. Tenson." She clears her throat lightly, her smile turning sheepish.

Sujiko's smile fades a little more too. "Sorry," he says, not really wanting to have gone back to the topic of the Grace's former captain. He nods in agreement with Jo. "Aye. I was thinkin' 'bout goin' back, but 'm good where I am," he confirms, turning to Sai and Tyr. "'ey Guys," he greets, offering them both a wave. He shoves his hands in his pocket as they're distracted, though, and looks back to Jo. "An' how's Hatch?" he asks. "I ain't seen 'im in..." he pauses, trying to think back. "...I don' even 'member last time I saw 'im," he realizes with a frown.

Savannha doesn't look to be enjoying much conversationalizing today, and tromps down the ramp past the lawnchair, past the suji-jose and past anyone else who might've turned up. She lands at the ground and stands there, scanning around and around the docks, looking for someone? Naah, Savannha doesn't hve anything to do with people...does she?

"Me neither, barely," Josephine admits to Sujiko, quietly, and that doesn'tseem to be a particularly cheerful topic either. "I imagine he's just fine,"she says mildly, offering a faint, reassuring smile to Saienne and giving Tyra friendly squeeze around the shoulders. "Hello, you two. And this is..Morgaine, you said, Tyr? A pleasure, to be sure," the woman says, offeringher hand. "I'm Josephine, also of Grace O'Malley's crew."

"No need to apologize," Tenson tells the Irish girl. "It's quite easy when you're rushed through school and start college at the tender age of sixteen. When most other students were taking a year off to tour the Core worlds, I was studying anatomy. When most others were just finishing their bachelor's degree, I was completing my second doctorate. Having effectively limitless wealth and a strong desire for social acceptance can motivate parents to put their children through all kinds of schooling." He grins up at Cassie and shakes another drop out of the tumbler at his side.

Morgaine catches the change of titles in the speech of Tyr and looks at Saienne curiously. She smiles a moment until Sai words make a more serious turn on events. Her eyes flicker with a question she is about to ask but instead she just says "It is a pleasure to meet you, Saienne." She holds her hand back a moment, a view of someone who has been cautious and careful and also someone much more used to salutes than handshakes. "The only constant is that things change, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse." Her gaze follows the gaze of Saienne for a moment to see what is holding the attention before she continues her words. "Tyr is correct in that I am looking for work. Morgaine Kygaran and I am experienced in most shipboard tasks."

Tyr pipes up helpfully when Morgaine introduces herself. "She says she can fly a big ship like the Grace, Sai, and that she can tinker around on 'er, too." He grins at Jo when she comes near, giving her a big hug.

Sujiko's smile falls a little more, though he doesn't say anything else. He seems a little bothered by the fact that there are so many things bothering Jose. She just doesn't seem herself, and he stands quietly pondering this fact for alittle while, hands in his pocket, only half paying attention to the current conversation. His brow furrows as Savannha wanders past, and he turns to watch her for a moment, but simply blinks and lets her do her own thing. He never really understood her, after all. He offers a nod to Morgaine, as they had met before, but still stands quietly.

Cassie just shakes her head. "Oh I couldn't do it.. Anatomy? Isn't that pickin apart bones an'such?" Her skin turns a little green even thinking bout it. She seems a tad distracted now though, an her brows knit together. "I should go check the spaceport, an see if that ship is there dratit. I'll be a might annoyed if I spent a whole week on this stinkin song an'they go and left on me." "Of course." Tenson inclines his head towards Cassie and hoists the drink in a wave of farewell. "It was a pleasure to meet you, however," he tells the girl. "I hope we bump into each other again. Best of luck." He smiles at her, again, and finishes off what is left of his drink, setting it aside.

After a short pause, Savannha turns back to those gathered around the Theory in a sudden unusual change of heart. She steps up to the circle of people and fills in a hole nearest to her, waiting to see if she would be noticed, and prepping herself with answers to the barrage of inqueries that they would inevitably ask, such as 'Why hello, my name is , Who are you?', 'Do you work on this ship here?' or worst of all, 'how do you do?'. She held back a shiver...and smiled sheepishly.

Tenson moves smoothly to his feet, collecting his glass and moving towards the back of the cargo bay. Two long-legged steps take him up the ramp, and he fishes in a box for a few bottles of various odd sizes and shapes. It only takes him a few seconds to pick his poison and he starts pouring himself a fresh drink with practiced ease, decanting everything into a stainless steel mix tumbler and giving it a practiced shake first.

Josephine gives Tyr a thorough hug, reaching up to ruffle his hair a bit as they step apart. She is clearly keeping an eye on the woman called Morgaine and her conversation with Saienne, even if it does not, at present, include her. Shy Savannha receives a small nod of acknowledgement, but nothing so much that would obligate her to actually speak. She cannot help but be aware of Sujiko's concern, even as her dark gaze follows the unfamiliar and potentially inebriated Tenson as he mixes himself a new drink.

"Ain't that but a truth that stretches the 'Verse over," Saienne says, and with sincerity, in reply to Morgaine's comment. Her handshake is firm, but not iron-like, and she takes a step back from the woman as Tyr speaks further. She grins a crooked grin at the young man next to her - a flash of a smile that is gone almost as quickly as it arrived. "Is that so?" She looks back to Morgaine. "An' do you favour flyin' or tinkerin'? Or neither." Josephine's greeting grabs her attention, and she half-turns again. "Evenin', Josephine." Saienne says, somewhat gravely. "An' Sujiko an' all." She takes another step back so that the circle of people can join more comfortably. "To be straight an' true with you, Morgaine, I ain't got the authority to be hirin' or firin' at present." A pause. "All that gorram flux, an' all." She glances sideways to Tyr. "But I expect Tyr's mentioned we're lookin', nonetheless, an' he surely ain't wrong."

Maggie enters from the northeast at a clipped stride - a woman on a mission. 'Least, she looks like a woman, far as onlookers can tell; the short girl's duster covers most of the identifying signs, and her hat partially mars the way to her face. Stopping a moment just inside the district, the brim lifts slightly so she can consider the safest way through to the docks, the shade from it a sharp contrast against her white skin. Her soft blue eyes wander from cluster of people to cluster of people as she plots her course.

Morgaine is sensitive enough to notice the woman that walked over but looks uncomfortable and focuses her attention on Josephine who gave her a greeting, "It is a pleasure, Josephine." She then fixes her gaze upon Saienne once more to respond to the words sent her way and allowing the timid one to keep to her observations. "He didn't so much as say you were looking but didn't say you weren't looking either. I do prefer the flying but I can astrogate, plot course, handle engineering and watch shifts on a bridge." The military bearing of the older woman is present as is the hint that this one has spend a lot of time on the bridge. Her eyes fix a moment on the scarf being worn.

Tyr leans against Jo fondly for a moment and gives her a wink. He then turns back to the conversation between Sai and Morgaine, as if to see how the two of them are getting on.

With a fresh drink in hand, Tenson returns to his seat. Sujiko might have ben keeping enough track to realize that this is the fifth drink the doctor's hand in the last hour, but he doesn't so much as wobble with each step- his drink doesn't even slop around. Evidently, Tenson has a hell of a tolerance for booze. He goes back to his seat and kicks it back a half foot into the shade, then settles into his seat once more and produces his PDA again, tap-tap-tapping on the screen.

"You may not have the authority alone, Saienne," Josephine says quietly then, and so very seriously, "but if someone seems like a good match for the crew, we can collectively consider bringing on someone new. If they agree to the usual conditions, of course. We could, for example, have Ms. Kygaran aboard as a passenger, for our next run or so, to see how we all get along. If she is interested, of course." She inclines her head slightly to the woman in question. "And if you and Tyr concur."

Maggie frowns at the mass of people here. Someone's got to have a slot aboard their ship open; they just do. Everyone needs a good doctor, right? She shoves her hands further into her pockets and starts on forward through the groups, walking slowly as she can pick up conversations as she goes. Her eyes slip quietly to the side as she passes a pair of broads who talk to loudly...and runs her hip solidly into Tenson's chair. "Oh!" slips from between her lips, "Mighty sorry 'bout that. 'Pologies." She slides around the chair and continues her paces forward, hoping he doesn't knife her in the back or something.

"No worries, no worries," Tenson says, apologetically. "I shouldn't be out here in the first placed." He returns to his PDA, reading it intently.

Sujiko's face quirks into a bit of a smile. "Good t' see y'all makin' on all good like," he says. He places his hand on Jo's shoulder and leans in to whisper something to her before taking a few steps back. "'s good t' see y'all 'gain, I'ma head back in," he says, beginning his way back up the ramp. "Keep in touch, yeah?" And with that, he shoves his hands in his pocket and proceeds up the ramp.

"Bridge officer?" Saienne asks, responding to the offered clues. Her tone is a little blunt and her dark eyes are direct. She tips her hat back on her head so that she can better see and be better seen - taking in now the military stance, the neatness of Morgaine's clothes, the sparkle-shine of her boots. Saienne nods in response to Josephine's suggestions, and the pheasant feather in her hat bobs and dips with a jauntiness entirely absent in her manner at present. "That's how we do it, sure enough." She says, with a bit of a sigh. Turning then to Morgaine. "If you fancy steppin' aboard for a trip to see if we suit you an' you suit us, then you should consider yourself more than welcome." Sujiko's departure causes her to wave a hand at him. "Sujiko!" She calls, breaking off briefly from conversation at hand. "You mind if I speak with you some time - before we part company?"

Morgaine glances at Josephine, "Now that is a catch, I don't mind dead heading a voyage but I would want to be knowing what the usual conditions and rules are and we would have to talk about what I could and could not do. There are somethings a passenger should not be doing, especially on a beauty of a ship like that one. She deserves the best." She looks at Saienne, "more than a decade experience in command, some of it as more than just command."

Savannha stands, shuffling from foot to foot, watching the faces of those talking and decides that this really wasn't what she wanted to do, and turns-again-to face the masses milling about all over the place without even thinking to bow herself out or give a goodbye. How rude! Well, she wasn't in the conversation anyways...and might as well ahve remained in the ship. ...Except she felt like walking today, and smoothly shifted herself into the crowds, vanishing almost immediately. Hopefully she hadn't been noticed any more than she already had been...

Sujiko turns as he makes his way up the ramp, taking a few steps backwards. "Sure thing, Sai. I'll drop ya' a ring or somethin'," he says with a wave as he enters the cargo bay, turning again and, after putting the broom from earlier /actually/ back in it's proper place (instead of leaning against the locker like it had been until now), makes his way toward the stairs, disappearing into Chaos Theory's catwalks.

Tyr tilts his head towards Morgaine and Saienne as they begin discussing the terms of Mor coming on board. He seems slightly eager about this, though.

"Of course, Suji," Josephine calls back, with a sudden, more gentle aspect to her gaze, "We'll make it a point to do just that." And then she returns her focus to Morgaine, studying her for a long moment, before she speaks again. "Grace isn't a military ship, although more than one of her crew has military experience. We're very casual, for one. But we respect each other. And we consider each other to be family, or as good as. We don't get regular paychecks. That's important to know. But what we do earn, we share. A passenger would be just that.. a passenger. Not permitted in crucial areas of the ship alone but, other than that..welcome to take part in the daily activities of the crew, to get to know people, to get a feel for our life. I'm sure our pilot will like to see how you fly. If after a couple of weeks, we're happy with you and you're happy with us...I suppose that would make you one of the crew."

Alabaster Smith emerges from the Invictus, wandering down to the base of the ramp to look around and take stock of the scenery as usual.

Morgaine smiles, "If nothing else, a chance to fly one of these again even for a short time would be a pleasure. The last time I was on one, I didn't get to do much piloting as I had other duties. It was too short a time for such a nice ship but one can't help where one goes when one is promoted off their current ship."

Saienne turns back to Morgaine, her dark eyes suddenly sharp, before Sujiko can answer her. "It ain't a catch, so much. It ain't nothin' but a trial. There ain't no point you takin' a job with us - or us offerin' you one - if we can't stand bein' shut up together for weeks on end." She nods in agreement with Josephine. "The discipline surely ain't military, but the chain of command is near as - that ain't nothin' but necessary up there." A vague gesture is made upwards towards the sky. "But, as Josephine says, the rules ain't strict." She looks sideways at Tyr, and then back at Morgaine, and her eyes narrow just a little. She tips her hat forward again, and shadow falls over her eyes.

"It's really quite friendly, truth be told, Morgaine. We're a real friendly bunch, but we do gotta make sure that everyone fits in and knows his place, yanno?" Tyr smiles a little.

Morgaine smiles, "I can deal with strict, I have run strict and I have been less than strict. I was raised merchant ship but after two lost cargos and declaration of rulership, my father and I took all our ships and joined the fight to keep our freedom and so I became military. I also know that in most ships, if you have a good captain, any crew can learn to get long and watch each other's back. It would be a pleasure to ship with you for a voyage but I will say I hope that you quickly see me as more than just a passenger and let me do more than just socialize."

"It's mostly about common sense. And mutual respect," Josephine adds, stepping around to stand beside Saienne. She offers a touch of a smile to Tyr. "But, yes, we're a friendly bunch for the most part. In a bit of a rough spot, for the moment, but that is how life goes from time to time. We stick together and we make it through. Saienne has extended her welcome to you, and I support it. I'm not sure how much longer we'll be on Persephone," she adds, with a slight inquiring glance toward Saienne, "But, we'll get you set up with a cabin and give you the royal tour whenever you're so inclined." She has an odd expression, for a moment, at the mention of a good captain.

Morgaine nods, "it has been 11 years since I was last on a ship of this class so a tour would be delightful and a room would be good." She looks at Tyr, Josephine and Saienne, "I will gladly take your offer of a journey or two."

"An'... the flux, an' all. Unsettlin'." Saienne smiles a lop-sided smile at Morgaine and the corners of her eyes wrinkle deeply. "I swear we ain't always so solemn - ain't it so, Josephine?" She falls silent, listening to Josephine speak. "Ain't sure myself at present. So much organisin'. Need to pick up a cargo, an' all." She pauses, then, looking towards the cargo office. "Another day or so, I reckon, at least, until we work out whether we're comin' or goin'..." Josephine's odd expression is echoed in Saienne's, and she mutters: "Good may be stretchin' it a little..." She shakes her head, clearing the thought and setting the feather to bouncing around again. "Well, anyhow, a journey or two it is. Our next run - an' we'll drop you off on Persephone again when we're done if our kind of life ain't to your taste." She turns to Josephine and Tyr. "Ain't that so?"

Morgaine considers, "Well, I think I have heard a rumor about a cargo for Ezra but no real details if that is what you need to work on."

Morgaine considers, "Well, I think I have heard a rumor about a cargo for Ezra but no real details if that is what you need to work on."

Tyr chuckles and nods his head. "It'll be just like that," agrees Tyr. "But if all goes, well, hey, you might just have a new home on us."

"Well, it sounds like we have an arrangement then," Josephine declares with a bit of a smile herself. "Welcome, Morgaine. We'll get you settled in in no time," she assures in what can only be described as a vaguely motherly fashion.

"An' if you find youself havin' any problems, you just come an' find me or Hatch. Or Josephine, indeed."
